Antique Teak Furniture

Antique teak furniture has become so desirable that an entire category of collecting has risen up around it: Dutch Modern. There are several reasons for the high demand of antique teak furniture, most of which have to do with the wood. Teak is unique in that it combines the natural strength of a hardwood with improved durability and miraculous water resistance granted by natural oils – oils that remain in antique teak furniture, offering protection for decades. Most special of all, antique teak furniture has often had time to take on a special silver-gray patina look created by the teak oil in the wood aging. This patina is rare and highly prized, making antique teak furniture only that much more special.
